Book Discussion: Don't Look Away (November)

Monday, November 8th

  • 11am to 12pm PST
  • 12pm to 1pm MST
  • 1pm to 2pm EST
  • 2pm to 3pm EST

This fall our book club is reading “Don’t Look Away, Embracing Anti-Bias Classrooms” written by Iheoma U. Iruka, PhD, Stephanie M. Curenton, PhD, Tonia R. Durden, PhD, and Kerry-Ann Escayg, PhD. With this book as our guide, we will explore and address issues of bias, equity, low expectations, and family engagement to ensure culturally responsive experiences for the children and families that are served by the early childhood professionals that we are training. As we know the early years are an especially sensitive period for building lifelong skills.

We will meet in September, October, November and December and possibly extend it into the following year. While we would love to have you join us for all, we welcome your participation when you are able to attend.

Due to the nature of the content, it will not be recorded. We want this to be a safe and brave space, where we can explore and support each other in our equity journey. In the words of Maya Angelou, “We do the best we can until we know better. When we know better, we do better.” Come join us in this journey of knowing better.

Note: you will need to sign up for each month's session for the unique zoom link.
